And would need to find a Ford 8" screen dash, which would also be expensive. But, I think you'd run into the same design issue with that 4" screen. But, I'm not totally familiar with the mid-range stereo you have.Īn option is to upgrade to Sync 3 system out of a later Ford model vehicle. The Maestro also provides some syncing with Sync, I believe. You can make it under $1000 (without install), but it's probably going to be close with all the hookup stuff you need. It will have a link with each product for "installation gear". Go to, car audio section, enter in your vehicle data, and search for Carplay-compatible setups. And I'm not sure anybody makes a single-din version, so you are looking at a double-din setup. So, the most expensive part (other than the radio) will be a new dash surround for whatever kind of radio you get, to fit a normal-shaped radio/display. The 4" screen dash is not really compatible with any aftermarket stereo setups I know of. I would assume that 10" or bigger screen is mounted outside because it doesn't fit in the dash. Here’s a picture to explain what I’m talking about :Īnd again, sorry if this are stupid questions. or is there any other alternative other than the Maestro? Is there any kind of bracket or mounting kit where I can mount the radio outside the dash? My buddy has an 06 Cummins and his Sony radio sits outside the dash and I wouldn’t mind having something like that. So I’m looking for cheaper alternatives for now until I can talk myself into spending that much. That sounds great but to me it doesn’t make since to spend nearly if not over $1000 on a sound system. I have read some threads in the past that mention the Maestro dash kit. I have a 2014 F150 XLT with the 4.2” screen and I’m looking at getting an apple carplay compatible radio. I have never really cared for it until recently when my friend did his whole sound system and it was done so good it made me want it in my truck lol. So to start things off, I have not a clue on car audio. I see all the info here and finally decided to join.
